The Office of Global Health Affairs (OGHA) is a division of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).


Mission

OGHA is tasked with:[1]

  • "Representing the Department to other governments, other Federal Departments and agencies, international organizations, and the private sector on international and refugee health issues;
  • "Developing U.S. policy and strategy positions related to health issues and facilitating involvement of the Public Health Service in support of these positions and in collaboration with other agencies and organizations;
  • "Providing leadership and coordination for bilateral programs with selected countries, such as the U.S-Russian and U.S. South Africa Health Committee, in support of Presidential and Vice Presidential initiatives;
  • "Facilitating cooperation by Public Health Service Operating Divisions with the Agency for International Development;
  • "Providing policy guidance and coordination on refugee health policy issues, in collaboration with Public Health Service Operating Divisions, the Office of Refugee Resettlement, the Department of State, and others."
