Onyeka Obasi "received her masters in Public Health with a concentration in International Health from Boston University School of Public Health in 2005 and a degree in Zoology with a concentration in Human Parasitology from University of Nigeria Nsukka in 1998. Onyeka worked as a program officer at the Legal Defence and Assistance Project (LEDAP) in Lagos Nigeria where she assisted in developing resource/training materials and co-facilitated a Strategic Thinking Seminar on Legislative Advocacy for female legislators and civil society leaders. She also designed a project on Grassroots Mobilization for Effective Participation of Women in Politics. Onyeka was involved in a gender-focused review of the 1999 Nigerian constitution by the NGO Coalition and participated in dialogues on the amendment of the 2000 electoral act in Nigeria. She has interned with the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and UN Division for the Advancement of Women.
