"Rare's mission is to help the best employers in the world build workforces of brilliant people that reflect society's diversity. The majority of our clients have never used outside help in graduate recruitment before, but have chosen to use us because of our proven track record. Rare was set up in 2005 by Managing Director and founder Raphael Mokades. Sir David Bell has been Rare's unpaid and non-executive Chairman since the company's foundation. In that time, Rare has grown from a staff of 1 to a team of sixteen, and from a handful of clients to several dozen: while our scale has changed, our ethos and values remain the same." [1]

Charity Work

In August 2012: "Rare is pleased to announce that as part of its ongoing charitable investment in the community, it has begun working with London Citizens. London Citizens is one of the affiliated Local Citizens Organisations that forms Citizens UK, ‘the home of Community Organising in the UK’." [2]

"Rare is committed to helping more people from diverse backgrounds reach top universities. In line with this commitment, approximately 10 % of Rare’s turnover is invested in charitable activities... Target Oxbridge is our newest charitable venture – a free programme aimed at helping top-performing black school pupils improve their chances of getting into the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge. We give financial support to The Transformation Trust and this summer a member of the Rare team will spend a month in South Africa on secondment with the Ubuntu Education Fund. We are also proud to be the Official Recruitment Partner of City Year London and host for Lawyers for Justice in Libya." [3]
