"For the past 15 years Rob Baril has organized with grassroots labor and community groups in New England, and is currently Organizing Director at SEIU/1199 New England, the Union representing 22,000 health care workers in Connecticut and Rhode Island. Since joining 1199 eleven years ago, Rob has organized nursing home workers and employees at non-profit agencies, and was part of campaign that won a historic community-benefits agreement from Yale-New Haven Hospital. Prior to joining 1199, Rob worked for 3 years with DARE (Direct Action for Rights and Equality), a grassroots, multiracial low-income people's organization in Providence, Rhode Island. During his time at DARE he led campaigns for health care access and police accountability. Rob has been privileged to meet and support labor and social justice activists during visits to Brazil, Haiti, and West Africa." [1]
