Rudy J. Richardson

Rudy J. Richardson is a Professor of Environmental Health Sciences, the Dow Professor of Toxicology, and an Associate Professor of Neurology at the University of Michigan's School of Public Health.[1] Richardson received his B.S. in Chemistry from Wichita State University in 1967. He then received his masters and doctorate degrees in physiology/toxicology from Harvard University in 1973 and 1974, respectively. He went on to do postdoctoral work in neurochemistry at the Medical Research Council Toxicology Unit in Carshalton, England. Following his work there, he joined the faculty of the University of Michigan. Richardson is board certified by the American Board of Toxicology (DABT). His research focuses on "mechanisms of acute and delayed neurotoxicity of organophosphorus compounds."[2] Richardson co-wrote the Alliance for Food and Farming's "Expert Panel Report" dismissing the notion that fruits and vegetables contain unsafe pesticide residues.[3] Richardson's endowed professorship was funded by Dow Chemical, resulting in at least one insinuation that his work is impacted by the goals of Dow Chemical.[4]
