Shari Jackson is a lobbyist who works for the American Chemistry Council (ACC) assisting large American plastics companies to defeat laws and ordinances banning plastic grocery bags. [1] She is the spokesperson for ACC's Progressive Bag Affiliates.

In April, 2009, Jackson testified in opposition to a proposal to tax plastic bags to help reduce a crippling amount of plastic bag litter clogging the Anacostia River in the District of Columbia. The D.C. Department of the Environment reported that 50% of the trash clogging the river was plastic bags. The bags were also clogging the D.C. sewer system and harming animals around the river.[2]
