The Syria Accountability Act of 2003, S. 982, 108th Congress, 1st Session, was intended "To halt Syrian support for terrorism, end its occupation of Lebanon, stop its development of weapons of mass destruction, cease its illegal importation of Iraqi oil, and hold Syria accountable for its role in the Middle East, and for other purposes."
The bill was introduced to the U.S. Senate by Barbara Boxer (for herself and Rick Santorum and "read twice and referred to the Committee on Foreign Relations." [1]
A similar bill, Syria Accountability and Lebanese Sovereignty Restoration Act of 2003, H. R. 1828, was signed by President George W. Bush and became Public Law No: 108-175 on December 12, 2003.
