"CREW Sues Indian Gaming Commission Over Docs; NIGC Response to CREW FOIA on Abramoff Scandal Patently Inadequate, Group Says."

On January 9, 2006, SW received a query regarding the unidentified "perry" mentioned in a paragraph cited in SW's Abramoff-Reed Indian Gambling Scandal. This article was taken from the Wikipedia in August 2005 and the paragraph in question is not sourced in the Wikipedia, meaning it was also not sourced in SW.

Research found that it was taken from the April 18, 2005, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) news release "Crew Files Texas Public Information Request Regarding US Senator Cornyn's Involvement With Indian Gambling Scandal. Cornyn Claims to Have Never Met GOP Activist Ralph Reed," which makes it clear that the "perry" in question was Texas Governor Rick Perry.

The sourcing for this quoted material, as well as the SW link to Perry, have been added to the paragraph in the SW article.

"On November 12, 2001, Reed sent Abramoff an e-mail stating, 'get me details so I can alert cornyn and let him know what we are doing to help him' [sic]. Similarly, on November 13, 2001, Reed wrote 'I strongly suggest we start doing patch-throughs to perry and cornyn [sic]. We're getting killed on the phone.' Also, on January 7, 2002, Reed sent Abramoff an e-mail stating 'I think we should budget for an ataboy for cornyn' [sic]." [1]

However, this points up that much of the Wikipedia information in this article is NOT sourced or attributed and anyone seeking documentation should refer to the Wikipedia article for same.

Additionally, while looking for the source of this paragraph, it was discovered that SW has been cited as its source, which, obviously, is not true.
