AI - couldn't get http://www.al-iraq.org to work - can you? --Bob Burton 00:25, 6 Jun 2005 (EDT)

Bob - no the link wouldn't work either directly or through linkage in other websites. In fact, I wonder if the organization is even active. Artificial Intelligence 11:51, 6 Jun 2005 (EDT)

First, though, is the Aziz Al-Taee page edit-protected? There is no link there to edit the page!

If Aziz was detained, then perhaps the org went underground and is only using a forum to communicate:

  • Yahoo! Group Iraqi-American Public Affairs Council, "moderated by Aziz Al-Taei, the founder and chairman of the IAC," which is active, with last message posted May 21, 2005. As you can see, it was very active in 2003, nearly inactive in 2004, until December, when it became active again, but not to the extent that it was in 2003.

Also:

  • Based on the dialogue, though, I'm guessing it predates the capture of Saddam Hussein.
  • It was posted by "Iraqi Lady", as you can see, at the request of "Aziz Al-Taee iapac2002 AT yahoo.com.com". The address then given for the IAC was 1220 L St., NW, Suite #100-262, Washington, DC, 20005-4018, Tel: 800-416-8684, Fax: 877-803-1800, which differs from the info we currently have posted.
  • Aziz Al-Taei is still active in speaking with the press. This link is from January 20, 2005, re interview with AP at americanjihad.blogspot.com.
"The head of the Iraqi-American Council, Aziz al-Taee, confirmed for the Associated Press that interviews had taken place and people questioned had told him that the FBI was "asking if anybody knows someone who worked with Saddam ... 'They asked about a list of some who have vanished. They are asking about terrorist cells,' said Mr al-Taee."
