Tevi David Troy was chosen in May 2007 by President George W. Bush as Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. If confirmed by the U.S. Senate, Troy would replace Alex Azar. [1]

At the time of his nomination, Troy was serving as Deputy Assistant to the President for Domestic Policy. [2]

"Troy had primary responsibility for debate preparation in President Bush's re-election campaign. He also has served as the president's liaison to the Jewish community. He began working in the Bush administration at the Labor Department. And, before joining the administration, he worked as the policy director for then-Sen. John Ashcroft, R-Mo., and as a domestic policy director for the Republican Policy Committee in the House."
