MAYBE ONE OF TWO PEOPLE

Tony White "began a successful business career in the US shortly after graduating from Trinity in 1978. He is currently a private investor and philanthropist in New York. The White Family Charitable Foundation which he established in 2000, makes grants in the fields of human rights and education. Tony is a graduate of Economic and Social Studies in TCD and sponsors the White Social Policy Lecture Series in honour of his former lecturer, Tony Coughlan." [1]

"Tony White, a professor of history at Sonoma State University, said the United States is not fighting a “war on drugs” in Colombia but is protecting American mining, oil and logging interests in the area. The U.S. is spending $7.5 billion in the counter-narcotics initiative known as Plan Colombia." [2]

"Tony White, who in addition to teaching Latin American history has been the long-term director of the Global Studies Program at Sonoma State University, announced this spring that the program has won approval as a major department at SSU. White has also been active in bringing Oxfam America's CHANGE program to campus. White, who has begun FERP, continues to advise graduate and undergraduate students, to research the Mexican photographer Tina Modotti, and, when time allows, to play an occasional game of tennis." 2001
