Welcome aboard!

We were adding a new template involving the money in politics section. As it turns out the template wasn't built to deal with multiple candidates that had the same last name... Hall, Smith etc.

John Hall/Ralph Hall

Think you may have confused these two members on John Hall's entry. John Hall is a freshman Democratic representative from NY-19. Ralph Hall is a longtime Republican represenative from TX-4. The FEC spending chart on John Hall's entry was Ralph Hall's.

SW: How a bill becomes law superfluous redirects

Back in March and April 2007, you moved around and retitled the series of "how a bill becomes law" articles. This resulted in double, triple and quadruple redirects. I would like to get the first redirect for each of these articles deleted, which I've nominted at votes for deletion, but no one has been willing to figure this out. Since you were knowledgeable, and you're still an administrator/sysop, you have the power to clean these up. I think it will take several rounds of deletion to reach a redirect that is actually in use by another article. -- Redtexture 11:55, 26 June 2007 (EDT) Check:

Special:DoubleRedirects

And:

votes for deletion

The reason I did not just fix the redirects, is that not one article is using the redirects listed in the votes for deletion group. Example:

http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Special:Whatlinkshere&target=How_a_bill_becomes_a_law%2FIII._Sources_of_Legislation

So it's a waste of effort to maintain a lot of these redirects, which were rendered meaningless anyway by the renumbering of the series of articles. So I recommend that they not be fixed, as was done for example here by you minutes ago:

http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=How_a_bill_becomes_a_law/III._Sources_of_Legislation&diff=prev&oldid=235261

Hey Andrew,

Sorry I haven't gotten back to you. I think it's good to just fix the redirects for now (like you were doing). I'm always a little hesitant to delete pages because its good to have a record of who edited the pages. Anyways, I hope all is well, and thanks!

The point of deleting the double rdirects is that hey have no history. No edits. They are left over from one of a series of moves on these articles, created automatically during the title change. Nothing worth saving. -- Redtexture 14:26, 2 July 2007 (EDT)

Welcome back

Good to see you still on the wiki, Andrew. Please feel free to IM or email me if you need any help with the CPI stuff you're doing. By the way, unless you don't want me to, I'm going to keep you on "sysop" status so you can do stuff on the telecom pages. Use it wisely, young jedi.--Conor Kenny 14:34, 6 July 2007 (EDT)
