Dear ScienceCop,

Welcome, and thanks to your additions to SourceWatch! However, some of your articles are incorrectly named or spread info about the same group over two articles.

There is already an article on the PR firm Burson-Marsteller; please incorporate the information you have at Burson Marstellar into that (or split it off into a side Burson-Marsteller article on TASSC contacts, as is done with other case studies listed on the B-M article.

It's also confusing to have two articles on the same group, TASSC and The Advancement of Sound Science Coalition. Although the info on the TASSC article may not be duplicative, the two articles will effectively split info seekers and info contributors between them. Again, I encourage you to incoporate the TASSC info into The Advancement of Sound Science Coalition article, or to clearly split it off from the main article as a side entry or case study.

Please see SourceWatch:Contributing and other help pages for more info.

I appreciate your comments. I wounder if you might think my approach is more valid if I explain some of my reasoning.

The TASSC article is already very lengthy, and needs to be trimmed by placing the personnel data into pages on each person's name. Many of those names do not yet have any entry page. For now this is the only page naming them and their connectedness.

Likewise The Advancement of Sound Science Page is also lengthy already, and well written. It feels to me to be presumptuous on my part to edit that material without a long pondering about how to merge details I think is important.

The Advancement of Sound Science page incorrectly describes TASSC as defunct, when in fact every week there are multiple news stories employing TASSC operatives. Most people who worked with TASSC as knowledgeable operatives involved in deliberate frauds have moved UP in society, not DOWN. They have been promoted. Mickey Edwards is a prime example.

Edwards was hands-on executive of TASSC from 1995.

http://tobaccodocuments.org/pm/2047070975-0976.html Philip Morris Sound Science Coalition Names Former Congressman Mickey Edwards to Lead Advisory Committee Date: 16 Aug 1995 Length: 2 pages

http://tobaccodocuments.org/pm/2047070951.html Philip Morris Statement of Mickey Edwards Date: 20 Dec 1995 Length: 1 page

He subsequently became a (partner?) particpant in APCO Worldwide who created TASSC to commit fraud crimes. This is incriminating connections. APCO is still employed doing TASSC-LIKE operations, using known documented TASSC conspirators: http://www.climatesearch.com/newsDetail.cfm?nwsId=54 2002.

It's not often that APCO is public about linking their name to events they create, so assume that there are other contemporary TASSC-like operations continuing with no impetus to stop.

If one page wants to say TASSC is defunct, there ought to be another page which says that all the main players of TASSC are still doing TASSC-like activities with impunity, their past never caught up with them. That's fine.

GOOGLE steers a majority of searchers to webpages. This gives two pages for them to find instead of just one, and both will be laid out in google side-by-side so the searcher knows before they click that there is more than one page at this website on the subject. There are more associated names and information as keywords as well, allowing more hits from a wider array of search words.

I'm not so interested in minor bit players of deceased organizations of mere historical interest. I am actively tracking as many TASSC operatives as possible in my 24-hours per day time limit. Patrick Michaels and Fred Singer have never been held accountable for their TASSC involvemen.

It is known that key player's pages are vandalized on a regular and frequent basis on wikis. I hope to build up the base upon which to connect major players to solid court evidence which is fundamentally embarrassing. On the other side is unlimited funding, literally unlimited up billions of dollars. The numbers of interns from 200 think tanks deploys an army of internet meddlers to interfere with information flow about the illegal activities ALREADY PROVED IN COURT with full due process. I am using an oblique approach, hopefully under the radar for as long as possible, to create the scaffolding which supports the story about the integrity of commonly seen sources saturating the media in what is called the "echo chamber". I am mindful of spurious lawsuit issues, and I document with an abundance of published sources, especially using court evidence as a first resort. Where one citation is usually sufficient you will see I use as many as eight citations.

Certainly I will take your suggestions under advisement. The current pages are sorely in need of further editing. In a sense I am practising here to perfect pages for syndication in other wikis willing to host the data to insure against vandal's triumphs. It's not exactly "sandbox", but it is first approximation towards pages which will, over time, be edited down into more concise form, much sharper to the point. There is a story to be told which will never be told in corporate media. I have the same core data published on the internet already, but it appears off the top page of google results, where a majority of searchers go no farther. Therefore it needs to be published on hosts up in the top five or ten results in google if it is ever going to be read. I am still learning how to conform to the requirements of wikipedia and sourcewatch which are up top in the results pages. That's not an instantaneous learning process and there is some trial and errors involved.

http://snipurl.com/re6a Google Results 516 for TASSC Patrick J. Michaels.

Sourcewatch.org is 20th on the list, with only one page shown, European Science and Environment Forum - SourceWatch "Given the sensitivities of other TASSC activities and a previous decision not to ... Sherwood Idso, Helmut Metzner, Patrick J. Michaels, William Mitchell, ... www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=European_Science_and_Environment_Forum - 25k - Jun 4, 2006 - Cached - Similar pages

Another search produces the same result: http://snipurl.com/re6p Results about 170,000 for The Advancement of Sound Science Coalition Patrick J. Michaels.

Same page given as link. I go to the page to see Michael's connection to TASSC by any name. What do I actually find?

"... In 1998 the Academic Members of ESEF included (TASSC) Bruce N. Ames, Sallie L. Baliunas, Robert C. Balling, Jack Barrett, C.J.F. Böttcher, Peter Dietze , Tor Ragnar Gerholm, Gerhard Gerlich, Sherwood Idso, Helmut Metzner, (TASSC) Patrick J. Michaels, William Mitchell, Harry N.A. Priem, (TASSC) Michel Salomon, (TASSC) S. Fred Singer, Willie Soon, Wolfgang Thüne, and Gerd-Rainer Weber, while Richard S. Courtney and (TASSC) Michael Gough were Business Members. [6] ..."

NO visible connection to TASSC, but I highlighted who should be referenced with TASSC. The court documents to TASSC are not finished being searched. It is established that tobacco fraud agents were working on Global Warming issues as far back as the 1980s. TASSC itself had involvement in Global Warming poo-pooing. Key TASSC operatives have since been highly visible in TASSC-like operations to delay action on global warming.

Shouldn't SOURCEWATCH be watching TASSC sources? The APCO-PM TASSC is finished, but the TASSC operatives are doing the same thing for new employers. SOURCEWATCH.ORG is not at the present moment the best place to go to follow the careers of career criminals involved with TASSC.

Brookings Institute has reinvented itself as a greenie environmentalist group. http://snipurl.com/re7l Google Results 1 - 18 of about 81 for Lester Lave TASSC. http://snipurl.com/re7q

Sourcewatch has no listings at all. Even JunkScience.com has better information about trojan horse LAVE-TASSC. http://www.junkscience.com/news/neufeld1.htm

This is a deceiver from TASSC in print in 2006. American Enterprise Institute-Brookings Joint Center for Regulatory Studies

  • American Enterprise Institute-Brookings Joint Center for Regulatory Studies has received $105,000 from ExxonMobil since 1998.
  • OLIN Munitions & Chlorine-DDT Funding Brookings Institution = $1,217,000
  • KOCH OIL Funding Brookings Institution = $829,400

We no longer can see (just as we couldn't see before the tobacco trials) who is pulling TASSC puppet-strings, but the evidence is clear that TASSC operatives continue to do TASSC-like activities without pause. A page leading to "defunct" TASSC is fine by me, but there ought to also be a page which is not buried under innocuous "case study" of "defunct" no-names page.

There's at least 30 scientists who joined TASSC when Philip Morris was the only funder. We don't know even half their names yet. Other's like Edwards, Lave, and Graham joined as directors later, and we don't know the track records of a good number of late joiners. Likely a majority of serious offenders are still unknown. It may be possible to break the will of one person with a guilty conscience to spill the beans and dump a motherload of files they have saved just in case they needed to plea-bargain in the future. At the least a big scarlet letter should be painted on those who were willfully guilty so that their credibility as news source is terminated.

That project is too large for any one person, but I contributed a bit to start the ball rolling.

Feel free to correspond by email further on these topics. ScienceCop 21:42, 5 Jun 2006 (EDT) ScienceCop

Relocation

Hi ScienceCop. A couple of points:

  • Yesterday I went back removed the duplicate TASSC page and redirected it to the full name of the organisation. I have the material to merge or shift to a side page. Having two core pages on the same organisation is only going to cause problems;
  • Today I also shifted a lot of material relating to the overlap between various sceptics in Canada,NZ, Aust to the NZSCC talk page. See the note I posted there.
  • I would prefer you refrained from making sweeping claims about legality unless there is a solid basis for doing so. --Bob Burton 04:51, 20 Jul 2006 (EDT)

  • Point 1: TASSC is not defunct. It operates in completely cloaked-mode. All the same people are still operating in the same way. Mickey Edwards, who headed TASSC has been absorbed into APCO Worldwide, which has created "Friends of Science" and other TASSC-like scams, including the Tom Harris anti-Kyoto lobbying of 2002 simultaneous with his co-worker forming up FOS. The same persons were activists in both FOS and the Anti-Kyoto action, and are joined togetrher again in the 60-Scientists letter of 2006 signed by them plus the NZSCC. The social networks of collaborators over years and decades gets beyond the ability of people to follow without guidence -- SourceWatch has made it it's mission to provide that guidence, not conceal the relationships. How much is Exxon paying you to be a saboteur in SourceWatch?
  • Point 2: The claims of legality are based on court records ordered posted online by federal court order. Any attempt to hide the illegality is aiding and abetting after the fact. Presenting a false and fraudulent distortion of the record is not compliant with the stated purpose of the SourceWatch website. Removal of links to the evidence which has passed through the adversarial due process system is itself aiding and abetting persons to escape consequences of their own freewill, intentional and premeditated acts. According to you there has never been a crime committed in the history of the world, and all guys are good guys. It's all good clean fun, a game, winner take all, and there is no evidence we are even having a heatwave let along Global Warming. The dissenters have equal rights to state their position, including holocaust deniers who object to the claims that any Jews were maliciously killed in WWII, right?

You actually haven't read any of global warming science yourself or independently verified the science yourself, have you?
