Waggener Edstrom is one of the largest independent public relations firms in the world.

Environmental practice

In October 2008, Waggener made former Natural Resources Defense Council media relations head Jon Coifman vice president of its "growing environment practice." Coifman heads the practice, along with fellow vice president Brandy Bishop. Coifman is in charge of new-business development, providing "expertise and counsel to existing and potential clients that have an environmental value proposition," and "driving stakeholder relations and issues management programs for existing clients," according to the Holmes Report. The same month, firm also added two new clients to its environmental practice, "NatureWorks, a developer of Ingeo bioplastics, made entirely from renewable resources, and Ener1, a developer of advanced lithium-ion batteries to power the next generation of hybrid and electric vehicles." Microsoft is another environmental practice client. [1]
