The Women's Media Center (WMC) "is the first of its kind. Our mission is to assure that women and women’s experiences are reflected in the media just as women are present everywhere in the real world; that women are represented as local, national, and global sources for and subjects of the media; and that women media professionals have equal opportunities for employment and advancement. This web site is the major online source for hyperlinks to women columnists and bloggers as well as media organizations and resources; it provides a Daily News Brief plus WMC Exclusives and Updates by media professionals and subject-specific experts.

"The WMC is a non-partisan, non-profit, tax-exempt progressive women's media organization based in New York City. It was founded in 2004 by the writer/activists Jane Fonda, Robin Morgan, and Gloria Steinem, and now has two impressive Boards --of Directors and Advisors--that include some of the country's leading journalists, academics, foundation leaders, and media women. Our concerns are local, national, and international, embracing television, radio, film, print, and the Internet. We are deeply disturbed by the lack of women’s presence in the media. Our interests are ignored, our voices trivialized, our realities marginalized or rendered invisible." [1]
