Biographical Information

"Zawadi Nyong'o is an African feminist social justice consultant that has over 10 years of experience designing, implementing, managing, monitoring, and mobilizing resources for various non-profit initiatives in Africa and across the globe. She identifies as an Afropolitan digital native, working as a free agent to use her non-profit experience, creativity, social media skills, extensive global networks, fundraising expertise, spirituality, passion & fire for social justice to create the world she wants to see. She has worked with several women's rights organizations, including the Association of Women's Rights in Development, where she coordinated the "Where is the money for women's rights?" program, and Urgent Action Fund-Africa, an African women's fund that is based in Nairobi, Kenya, where she is from. In 2008-9, she coordinated the setting up UHAI: The East African Sexual Health & Rights Initiative, currently in its 5th grantmaking cycle. Zawadi graduated from Hampshire College, in Amherst, MA where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in International Law, Women's Studies & Development Studies. When she is not busy tweeting for justice and mobilizing resources for different causes, she is either trying out new dishes, dancing, learning about new technologies, and exploring various contemplative practices for healthy living."
