Dr. Iur. Adnan Buyung Nasution

"Earned a Law Degree from University of Indonesia in 1964, and completed a series of studies in International Law at the University of Melbourne, Australia in 1959. Later in 1992, he earned a Doctorate Degree (Ph.D) from Rijksuniversiteit Utrecht, Holland, with a thesis of "The Aspiration for Constitutional Government in Indonesia". From 1957 to 1968 he served as Public Prosecutor and Head of the Bureau of Public Relations at the Attorney General's Office and was a member of Parliament between 1966 and 1968. After retiring from Attorney General's Office and Parliament Dr. Nasution established a law office nemed Adnan Buyung Nasution & Associates in 1969, which is now known as Adnan Buyung Nasution & Partners (ABNP). In 1970, he founded and chaired the first Legal Aid and Human Rights office in Indonesia that later became the Indonesia Legal Aid Foundation. Dr. Nasution is the author of dozens of publications on topics as diverse as legal aid, human right, political development, constitutional issues and federalism, and has contributed numerous articles to journals and conferences at both national and international levels. Dr. Nasution has twice been the recipient of the International Award for Legal Aid in Stockholm (1976) and London (1977), and was honored as Man of the Year by Indonesia Raya newspaper in 1968. In 1999, he received a medal of Bintang Mahaputra from the President of the Republic of Indonesia. Dr. Nasution is a fluent speaker of Dutch, English and Indonesian." [1]
