Adnan al-Pachachi, who served as a member of the Iraqi Governing Council beginning in July 2003, was listed with the National Iraqi party on Ayad Allawi's list for the December 15, 2005, Iraqi national elections. [1][2]

Al-Pachaci served as a former foreign minister (Sunni) from 1965 to 1967 "before Saddam Hussein's Baath Party came to power. He is a nationalist with a secular liberal outlook. He is thought to be particularly favoured by the US Department of State." [3]
