Biographical Information

"Alex Michelsen started working for LIFEbeat as a summer camp volunteer, and has a genuine passion for the programme and the positive impact he has seen it have on youth and adults alike. He grew up in London, and graduated from Wadham College, Oxford (BA Psychology and Philosophy) and Imperial College London (MSc Environmental Technology). Alex’s interest in working with young people grew from a 9-month action research programme at Schumacher College, Dartington exploring creative educational practice as a powerful force for change in society and individuals. Prior to his role at LIFEbeat Alex spent two years working in the youth sector in Bristol, providing intensive support for teenagers long-term excluded from school. Before this Alex had a career in the corporate sustainability world, and also spent time living in China, teaching English and studying Mandarin. In his spare time (and at camp!) he enjoys singing and playing the violin."[1]
