Allan Gyngell

Mr Allan Gyngell is Executive Director of the Lowy Institute. He joined the Australian Department of External Affairs in 1969 and served in Rangoon , Singapore and Washington . He spent some years working for the Office of National Assessments, and also headed the International Division of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet. He was appointed in 1993 as foreign policy adviser to the Australian Prime Minister.

"He was foreign policy adviser to former Prime Minister Paul Keating from 1993 until 1996." [1]
