Angelica Pino Davis: Gender Programme, Centre for the Study of Violence and Reconciliation.

"Angelica started her work in the human rights field in Chile in the 80s, when the country was under General Pinochet’s rule. She worked in NGOs conducting human rights education and training among disadvantaged communities. At the time, she also became involved in the incipient feminist and women’s rights movement in the country. She worked as a lawyer in NGOs providing counselling and legal advice for women survivors of violence, as well as conducting training and research on women and the law. After the democratisation of the country, Angelica joined the Ministry of Justice as Co-ordinator of the Legal Information Centres of a pilot Legal Aid Programme.

"In 1994, Angelica moved to South Africa. In 1997, she joined the Nisaa Institute for Women's Development, a Lenasia-based women’s NGO focusing on gender-based violence. She was a member of the editorial board of Lolapress International Feminist Magazine, a project aimed at promoting debate and exchange among feminist movements from different continents. Prior to joining CSVR, Angelica worked as Gender Programme Manager for the Southern Africa Regional Office of the Heinrich Boell Foundation.

"Angelica holds a LLB degree from the University of Chile and a LLM from Wits University, and a Diploma in Programme and Project Management for the Public and Development Sectors, P&DM, Wits University. Angelica was admitted as an Advocate by the Supreme Court of Chile in 1996." [1]
