"During his career as a journalist, lecturer and author, Anthony Harrigan earned a reputation as a forceful, articulate conservative thinker. An assistant editor for The News and Courier, Mr. Harrigan worked primarily as an editorial writer for the newspaper during the 1950s and '60s. Eventually, he achieved a national audience for his views.

"Mr. Harrigan enjoyed success as a columnist, author and contributing editor to the National Review. He wrote or edited nearly two dozen books and dozens of essays on military affairs, foreign policy and domestic issues...

"As president of the U.S. Business and Industrial Council and the U.S. Industrial Council Educational Foundation, Mr. Harrigan lectured and wrote on trade and national defense issues. His views reflected a dedication to the nation's founding values, and a recognition of the threat posed by communist regimes during the Cold War.

"Mr. Harrigan, who served in the Marine Corps during World War II, was an acknowledged expert on military affairs and his exemplary writings on the subject were recognized twice with the Military Review award given by the U.S. Command and General Staff College. "
