Biographical Information

"Mr Jafar is Managing Director of the Crescent Group of companies and President of Crescent Petroleum, headquartered in the United Arab Emirates for over 40 years and with offices worldwide. Mr Jafar also serves as CEO of Crescent Enterprises, the Group's non-energy division, and as Chairman of Gas Cities LLC, a joint venture between Crescent Petroleum and Dana Gas PJSC. He also serves the International Advisory Board of Dana Gas, the region’s first and largest listed private sector natural gas company, and is Chairman of Pearl Petroleum, a partnership between Crescent Petroleum, Dana Gas, OMV of Austria and MOL of Hungary.

"Additionally, Mr Jafar has a variety of international and commercial interests, including aviation, serving as a Board member of Gama Aviation (UK); shipping, serving as a Vice Chairman of Gulftainer Ltd (the Middle-East's largest private container port operator); and real estate, serving as a Board member of Enshaa PSC (UAE).

"Mr Jafar is an active member of the Young Presidents' Organisation, chairing the Emirates Chapter and is a member of the Business Advisory Council of the American University of Sharjah. He also chairs the Alumni Advisory Council of the Cambridge Judge Business School, and sits on its International Advisory Board. Mr Jafar co-founded the Pearl Initiative, a movement to create a corporate culture of greater transparency and accountability in the Gulf and sits on the Global Board of Education for Employment. Mr Jafar has been honored as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum."[1]
