Barry Sterland

"In July 2005 Barry Sterland joined the Australian Greenhouse Office (AGO) as the First Assistant Secretary of the Industry, Communities and Energy Division. In this role Barry has overall responsibility for many of the Australian Government’s domestic greenhouse programmes, including Greenhouse Challenge Plus, in which he is co-chair of the Industry-Government Greenhouse Partnership Committee. He is a key element of the Australian Government’s climate change strategy.

"Barry has an extensive knowledge of environmental, economic policy and research issues having previously worked in the Australian Treasury, the Australian Bureau of Research Economics and the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet In recent years he has been heavily involved in greenhouse policy including the development of the 2004 Energy White Paper, Securing Australia's Energy Future, the Australian Government’s Climate Change Strategy and the Asia Pacific Partnership.

"Barry holds a first class honours degree and University Medal in Agriculture Economics from the University of Sydney. In 1999 he was awarded a Masters Degree in Public Policy from Princeton University supported by a Fulbright scholarship." [1]
