Biographical Information

From 2008: "Described as “the most knowledgeable parliamentarian on the subject of drugs”, the Eton-educated Lord Mancroft is involved in a string of health charities....A keen field sports enthusiast, he is a former joint master of the Gloucestershire-based Vale of the White Horse Hunt, and vice-chairman of the Countryside Alliance.

"He was extremely vocal during the debate to ban hunting, vowing to “outlast our enemies” after the ban was implemented. Married with three children, he has been the chairman of the Addiction Recovery Foundation since 1989 and is also chairman of the Drug and Alcohol Foundation. For the last 12 years he has been chairman of Inter Lotto, which runs lotteries for charities.

"He is a patron of the Sick Dentists' Trust, a self help group offering assistance to dentists with health problems and the Osteopathic Centre for Children. His father, the 2nd Baron Mancroft, served in the Second World War as a Lieutenant-Colonel in the Army, and went on to serve in the Conservative administrations of Winston Churchill, Anthony Eden, and Harold Macmillan, his roles including Under-Secretary of State for the Home Department and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Defence. "He has been chair of Addiction Recovery Foundation since 1989 and and chair of the Drug and Alcohol Foundation since 1994. He was director of Phoenix House Housing Association from 1991 to 1996 and vice-chairman from 1992 to 1996. He is Chairman of Inter Lotto, a non executive director of St Martin’s Magazines Plc and RoK Corporation, and Chairman of New Media Lottery Services." [2]
