Biographical Information

"Brigid Simmonds is Chief Executive of the British Beer & Pub Association. She joined the BBPA in September 2009. Brigid was previously Chief Executive of the umbrella organisation Business In Sport and Leisure (BISL), from 1992 to 2009; representing over 100 private sector commercial companies in the sports and leisure industry

"Brigid is immediate past Chairman and a current Director of the Tourism Alliance, which represents 50 different Trade Organisation and 200,000 businesses. Between 2005 and 2011, she was Chairman of the Sport and Recreation Alliance, the umbrella organisation for 300 Governing Bodies of Sport and Voluntary Sports Organisations and has recently been appointed as their Vice President.

"Brigid has completed a six year term on the main board of Sport England, where she was Chairman of Phoenix Sport in Sheffield and Caversham Lakes Trust. She was a former chair of the Sport England Lottery Awards Panel. She was previously a non-executive Director of Leicester City Football Club Plc and is the author of ‘Developing Partnerships in Sport and Leisure: A Practical Guide’, published by Longman in 1994...Brigid was awarded an OBE for Services to Sport in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list of June 2006. In 2007 she won the Shine Industry Expert Award for Women’s Achievements in Travel, Tourism and Hospitality and the Leisure Report Industry Individual of the year award."[1]
