The British Weights and Measures Association is an anti-european union and metric organisation.

BWMA's aims are to:

  • To oppose compulsory conversion to the metric system; to promote the use of customary UK and other traditional units.
  • To provide cogent arguments against the use of the metric system, based on the findings of research and analysis. To back these arguments with hard evidence.
  • To identify and publicise laws or legal loopholes that may be used to obstruct metric conversion where it is proposed, and to force reversals of metrication where it has already occurred. To expose metric conversion "by stealth".
  • To enhance understanding that the metric system is not merely a means of measurement but a political philosophy and tool. To discover who in politics and industry supports metric conversion, and why.
  • To provide a central gathering point for information relating to metric conversion, and to promote and co-ordinate resistance. To provide a permanent resource of information and facts.
