Capita are a FTSE 100 general UK consultancy firm, with close links to the Labour Party. About half their income comes from projects run under the Private Finance Initiative. Private Eye magazine nicknames them Crapita.

They are a corporate partner in the New Local Government Network.

They have been involved in a some costly IT-related bungles, including:

  • Criminal Records Bureau software
  • 'Individual Learning Accounts' scheme
  • Westminster and Lambeth council benefits system
