Charles Hill
Charles Hill, a "career minister" in the U.S. Foreign Service and a research fellow at the Hoover Institution, was named on July 10, 2007, by 2008 Republican presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani as a member of his foreign policy campaign team. Hill will serve as Chief Foreign Policy Advisor and Chairman of Senior Foreign Policy Advisory Board.[1]
Hill served as "executive aide to former U.S. Secretary of State George P. Shultz and as special consultant on policy to the United Nations Secretary-General. Hill is also diplomat-in-residence and the Brady-Johnson Distinguished Fellow in Grand Strategy and lecturer in International Security Studies at Yale University.
"Hill's experience reaches around the globe, having served in Switzerland, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Saigon. He was involved in the 1974 Panama Canal negotiations and served as a member of the policy planning staff for Secretary of State Henry Kissinger."[2]
Hill was a "political counselor for the US Embassy in Tel Aviv and was director of Israel and Arab-Israeli affairs," Hill "has also taught many members of our foreign policy elite. A biography of him was recently published by one of his students at Yale (The Man on Whom Nothing was Lost); he emerges in this portrait as one whose worldview is based on a 'fundamental faith in the righteousness of American power, properly wielded' and a man who looks back fondly at the methods and success of the Reagan-era foreign policies," Ed Lasky wrote in the American Thinker.[3]
