In April 2008 the global oil and gas company Chevron announced a 'partnership' with the Tiger Woods Foundation, the foundation established by the professional golfer, Tiger Woods. The media release announcing the "relationship" stated that "to enhance and develop programs, activities and events in support of the Foundation." [1]

In particular, the company and foundation announced that Chevron would become the title sponsors of the annual Chevron World Challenge golf tournament held at the Sherwood Country Club in California. The tournament raises funds for the Tiger Woods Foundation. The release stated that "Chevron will also support efforts to expand the Foundation’s programs that help young people prepare for successful and responsible careers. Chevron and the Foundation will explore opportunities in California, other locations in the U.S. and in select locations internationally."[1]

Woods put in a nice word for Chevron too: "Chevron has a track record and a commitment to bettering the communities where they operate. We are excited about working with them to co-develop programs that will further the efforts of the Tiger Woods Foundation".[1]
