"Our roots in the steel communities of South Wales, Scotland and Northern England, the textile towns of the Midlands and Blind and Disabled workers from across Britain have produced a modern, forward-looking Trade Union which is well equipped to meet the demands of the 21st century." [1] Formed in 2004 "Community was formed by the merger of the Iron and Steel Trades Confederation (ISTC) and the National Union of Knitwear, Footwear and Apparel Trades (KFAT)." [2]
