Support of Region III Public Smoking Issues

This May 9, 1989 memo summarizes actions taken by Tobacco Institute staff to counteract public smoking restrictions in 1989. Actions included offering assistance to protest a smoking ban at a mental hospital. Martin J. Gleason of the Institute writes that

[Tobacco Institute Labor Management Committee] Counsel Michael Forscey contacted Teamsters official to offer assistance with grievance procedure regarding asmoking ban at the Lenhal State Hospital for the Mentally Ill. Counsel provided legal materials and advice.
