Biographical Information

"Neo Moroka is the Resident Director and Chief Executive Officer of De Beers Holdings Botswana.

"He started his career in the public service in 1980. In 1984 he left the public sector and moved into the banking sector joining Barclays Bank. Between 1991 and 2003, Neo worked for one of the largest Petroleum companies in the world, BP, as the General Manager for BP Botswana. In 1999 he was promoted to Managing Director for BP Zambia and in 2001 he was appointed the Commercial Director for BP South Africa responsible for BP commercial activities in 13 SADC countries until his early retirement in 2003. From 2004, Neo joined the Botswana Government as the Minister of Trade and Industry responsible for trade industry policy formation, foreign direct investment, international trade negotiations and relations, economic diversification, development, regulation and licensing of trade activities.

"Neo has obtained a Bachelor of Science (Magna Cum Laude) in Wildlife and Fisheries Ecology degree from the Texas, A & M University and a Master of Science in Animal and Range Sciences degree from the University of New Mexico State University, USA. He also holds an Associate Diploma in Commercial Banking from the Institute of Bankers in South Africa and has completed a Programme for Management Development from the University of Cape Town, South Africa."[1]
