Dr. Gaya Gamhewage "is responsible for capacity building in the World Health Organization's (WHO) Department of Health Action in Crises in Geneva. She has been with WHO for ether past 4 years and she currently leads a team that is responsible for a new global initiative to improve WHO's performance in crises, disasters and emergencies. Before taking up her present post, Dr. Gamhewage worked for Save the Children UK and Save the Children Norway in Sri Lanka where she was head of Advocacy and Communication."[1]

She is an advisory board member of Coexistence International.
