Professor Fumiaki Yamada, "an assistant professor at Osaka University of Economics and head of the Society to Help Returnees to North Korea, was taken into custody 7 August 2003 by Chinese authorities. He was detained for allegedly helping the children of North Koreans who had formally lived in Japan defect from North Korea." [1]
