George Hamilton, is Ex-officio of the Institute for Sustainable Communities.

"George Hamilton has headed the Institute for Sustainable Communities (ISC) since the nonprofit organization was created in 1991. ISC’s mission is to help communities around the world address environmental, economic, and social challenges to build a better future shaped and shared by all. It has designed and carried out projects in more than 15 countries that have helped hundreds of communities, organizations and agencies solve problems and improve the quality of life for present and future generations.

"From 1989 to 1991, Hamilton was the planning director for the State of Vermont and acted as Governor Madeleine M. Kunin's chief policy advisor. From 1985 to 1989, he was a policy analyst in the Vermont Governor's office specializing in energy, environment, and telecommunications issues. From 1982 to 1985, he was executive director of the Vermont Public Interest Research Group (VPIRG)—Vermont's largest citizen advocacy organization.

"Hamilton has been a VISTA volunteer, and in the late 1970s, a research assistant to the U.S. Secretary of the Interior on the Alaska Lands Act. He holds a B.S. degree from St. Lawrence University in Environmental Studies and Geology." [1]
