Henry Derwent is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the International Emissions Trading Association, a peak global lobbying groups with companies involved in emissions trading. Prior to his appointment to the position in December 2007, Derwent was the Director of International Climate, Air and Analysis at the U.K. government's Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA).[1]

Background

A biogrpahical note states that while at DEFRA "his responsibilities cover the environmental impacts of and policies towards climate change, sustainable energy, chemicals, biotechnology and genetic modification, the nuclear industry and radioactivity."[3]

"During the UK Presidency of the EU he was the Special Representative to the Prime Minister on Climate Change. He has previously held a number of positions in the Departments of Transport and Environment, covering roads, transport industries, vehicle licensing, finance, local government and other fields. His last 8post was a spell as a Corporate Finance Executive on loan to a major international investment bank," his biographical note states.[3]
