The Howard H. Baker, Jr. Center for Public Policy is based at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and describes its mission as being to "develop programs and promote research to further the public's knowledge of our system of governance, and also to highlight the critical importance of public service." [1] The Center is in honor of former Tennessee Republican Senator Howard H. Baker, Jr..

Funding

On its website, the Baker Center states that it "operates using the proceeds from a congressionally authorized Fund for Improvement of Postsecondary Education (FIPSE) grant" made to the University of Tennessee in 2001. "To maintain and expand its operations in the future, and to construct a dedicated facility, the Howard Baker Center will rely on contributions from donors." [2]
