Ivan Sigal "is Internews' Vice President for Latin America. He is responsible for strategic development and management for projects throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. From 2004-2007, Sigal was Regional Director for Asia, overseeing projects throughout Asia, including Afghanistan, Pakistan, China, Sri Lanka, and Thailand.

"From 1999-2004 for Internews he was Regional Director for Central Asia and Afghanistan, and in 1999 was Country Director for Tajikistan. He founded Internews projects in Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, and China, and has focused on the role of media in conflict, television and radio production, journalism training, media law, and new media projects.

"Sigal is also a photographer, and has worked in documentary film, and print media as writer and editor. In 1996 he was the recipient of a one-year Professional Development Fellowship from the Institute for International Education to create a project photographing change in Russia. From 1996-2006 he has photographed extensively in Russia, the Caucasus, Central Asia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Kashmir (India), and China. He holds a master's degree in International Relations from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy and an undergraduate degree in literature from Williams College. He speaks Russian and German."
