Joel Tolman "has served on the Global Youth Connect Board of Directors since its founding.

"He is a teacher and board member at Common Ground High School, a public charter school that takes the urban environment of New Haven, Connecticut, as its organizing focus.

"Before joining the staff at Common Ground, Joel spent five years working on youth and education policy issues in Washington, DC. At the Forum for Youth Investment and the International Youth Foundation, Joel managed projects related to high school reform, community-based supports for young people, and youth engagement in community change. He has also served as advisor to national and international initiatives related to youth action and school reform.

"Joel is also the author, co-author, and editor of publications and articles on human rights education, ethical development, youth engagement, out-of-school opportunities for young people, and school reform." [1]
