Learn more about corporations VOTING to rewrite our laws.

John Castellani is President and Chief Executive Officer of the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA),[1] one of the largest and most influential lobbying organizations in Washington.[2] He has been called the "U.S. drug industry’s top lobbyist."[3] He was previously the President and CEO of the Business Roundtable, an association of chief executive officers of major U.S. corporations.[4] In 2007, Directorship Magazine named him as one of the 100 most influential people in corporate governance.[5] Bloomberg has called him one of Washington's six most influential lobbyists.[6]

Ties to the American Legislative Exchange Council

Castellani spoke during a plenary luncheon of the 38th annual meeting of the American Legislative Exchange Council in New Orleans, LA, on August 3rd, 2011. PhRMA sponsored the luncheon, at which Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal also spoke.[6]

About ALEC
ALEC is a corporate bill mill. It is not just a lobby or a front group; it is much more powerful than that. Through ALEC, corporations hand state legislators their wishlists to benefit their bottom line. Corporations fund almost all of ALEC's operations. They pay for a seat on ALEC task forces where corporate lobbyists and special interest reps vote with elected officials to approve “model” bills.
