John P. Morgridge "joined Cisco Systems, the leading supplier of high-performance inter networking products, in 1988 as president and chief executive officer and became chairman in 1995. He spent two years as president and chief operating officer of grid Systems, a private company building laptop computers that was sold to Tandy Corporation in 1988.

"From 1980 to 1986, Mr. Morgridge was vice president of marketing, sales, and service for Stratus Computer, Inc., a manufacturer of fault-tolerant computer systems. He previously spent 20 years with Honeywell Information Systems. His last position was vice president of marketing and planning for the U.S. operation.

"Mr. Morgridge holds a BBA from the University of Wisconsina and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. He teaches part time at the Stanford Graduate School of Business and speaks regularly on entrepreneurism and management strategies at corporations and universities around the world. In 1996, the Stanford Graduate School of Business honored Mr. Morgridge with the Arbuckle Award.

"He and his wife, Tashia, are active in the support of education, conservation, and human services. Mr. Morgridge currently is a director of the Nature Conservancy, Business Executives for National Security, the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation, the Cisco Foundation, and the Cisco Learning Institute. He is a board member of CARE and Interplast and a trustee of Stanford University

"He and Tashia live in Portola Valley, California. They have three children and six grandchildren. Mr. Morgridge enjoys amateur status as a biker, hiker, hunter, skier, and grandpops." [1]
