Joe Pedelty worked for Holcomb Environmental Services, a sham air-testing company owned by Lawrence C. Holcomb. He also appears to have worked at Consolidated System Services (CSS) with Jola J???ki

The company specialised in air quality testing in offices where the company would always avoid any suggestion that passive smoke was the main problem, and they'd recommend, instead, a complete cleaning, or rebuilding of the air conditioning unit in order to increase the rate of exchange between the indoor and outdoor fresh air. They also became involved in testing airports and airlines during flight using a Portable Air Sampling System (PASS) which fitted into a small case which could be carried in the main compartment small-luggage rack.

Holcomb and Pedelty also provide 'expert witness services' for the Tobacco Institute.
