Joyce Malombe

Dr. Joyce Malombe is a director of the Institute for Sustainable Communities.

"Joyce Malombe has more than 20 years of experience as a teacher, management analyst, development consultant, and social scientist. She was a senior social scientist with The World Bank where she carried out a study on community development foundations in a number of countries (in Latin America, Africa, Eastern Europe, the United Kingdom, and the United States). Dr. Malombe developed pilot projects with partners both within and outside the Bank and examined different models of community-based resource institutions and Bank experience in this field with a view to identifying possible areas of collaboration between foundations and The World Bank. A Kenyan national, Dr. Malombe has worked as a director and as a senior research fellow at the Housing and Building Research Institute at the University of Nairobi, where she has coordinated research activities and trained other researchers. Most recently, Dr. Malombe taught at the Community Economic Development Program at Southern New Hampshire University and was a program officer at the Ford Foundation's International Fellowships Fund.
