Biographical Information

"Dr Julia Newton-Howes became National Director of CARE Australia in October 2007 and serves on the CARE International Board. Prior to this, Dr Newton-Howes was Assistant Director General of AusAID. Her responsibilities included negotiating replenishments for the World Bank and Asian Development Bank; managing Australia’s relations with the United Nations; Commonwealth; Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development Assistance Committee; and non-government organisations. Dr Newton-Howes joined AusAID in 1992 and has worked on a wide range of development issues. Dr Newton-Howes has a PhD in Materials Science from London University and worked in scientific research at Monash University in Melbourne and the University of New South Wales in Sydney." [1]
