Linda A. Jacobsen

Linda Jacobsen is director of the Population Reference Bureau’s "domestic programs. Dr. Jacobsen is a demographer with more than 20 years of experience analyzing population trends and their implications for professional, business, and general audiences. She has expertise in family and household demography, population estimates and projections, socioeconomic status and inequality, survey research, statistical modeling, and geographic information systems. She has extensive research experience with a wide array of government and other survey data sources, and has been a featured speaker for many professional conferences and organizations. Dr. Jacobsen is a member of the Committee on Applied Demography of the Population Association of America, and the Board of Directors of the Association of Public Data Users. She also served from 1995 to 2001 on the Census Advisory Committee of Professional Associations. Prior to joining PRB in 2005, Dr. Jacobsen served for 10 years as senior executive and chief demographer for two leading marketing information companies, Claritas and MetroEdge, where she led the data research and development efforts. Prior to joining Claritas, she was research director at American Demographics magazine for three years. From 1983 to 1992 she acquired nine years of research and teaching experience in sociology and demography as a faculty member at both Cornell University and the University of Iowa. She holds an M.S. and a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a B.A. in sociology from Reed College."
