Biographical Information

"Luis Álvarez served as President of National Urban Fellows, Inc. from 1976 through January 2002, and reappointed as President on February 19, 2004, overseeing the management of the country’s most distinctive national leadership development programs for professional mid-career women and minorities. Former Director of Development for ASPIRA of New York, Inc. and, later, Chief Executive Office for ASPIRA of America, Inc.; former Chairman  of the Board of Directors of the National Community for Latino Leadership, the Latino Fund of the Tri-State, and Bronx   Lebanon Hospital Center; member of Aspen Institute Society of Fellows; recipient of the Whitney M. Young, Jr. Award, the National Hispanic Hero Award, the Mid-West Voter  Registration & Education Project Award, the Hispanic Champion Award, the  U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Award and the House of Representatives of The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico Recognition Award" [1]
