Maria Silvia Bastos Marques "has a solid academic background and prominent professional experience. She is presently a partner in MS& CR2 Finanças Corporativas, and a member of the Board of Directors of several companies, both in Brazil and abroad (Pão de Açúcar, Souza Cruz, and Anglo American PLC). She is also a member of the Committee for Social Responsibility in Souza Cruz and the Committee for Health, Safety and the Environment in Anglo American PLC.

"She has also been a member of the Board of Directors for Petrobras, Companhia Vale do Rio Doce and Galvasud. Maria Silvia played a prominent role in the Companhia Siderúrgica Nacional, initially as Superintendent Director of the Corporate Center, and subsequently as the President. She has also presided the Instituto Brasileiro de Siderurgia.

"She had previously worked in municipal public administration as the Secretary of Finance for Rio de Janeiro, and federal public administration directly in the Finance Ministry and indirectly, when she was the first woman to occupy a directorship in BNDES.

"Maria Silvia graduated in Public Administration from the Brazilian School of Public Administration - EBAP from the Getúlio Vargas Foundation - FGV in Rio de Janeiro; has masters and doctorate degrees in economics from the Post Graduate School of Economics - EPGE from the Getúlio Vargas Foundation in Rio."
