Merrill Brown "is the founder and principal of MMB Media LLC, which provides clients with management and strategy consulting, corporate, editorial and program development, business analysis and marketing services. Before establishing the firm, Brown was senior vice president of RealOne, the subscription audio and video service of RealNetworks, Inc. Before joining RealOne, Brown was senior vice president and editor-in-chief of MSNBC.com. From 1995 to 1996, Brown was a media and communications consultant whose work included strategic development work at Time Inc., NBC and other media ventures. He has served as consulting senior editor of Money magazine and editor for the Time Magazine Daily, the publication's daily online news operation.

"Brown was one of the initial strategists responsible for creating the Courtroom Television Network from 1990-1994. During his tenure as editor-in-chief at Channels magazine from 1985-1990, the periodical was named a National Magazine Award finalist for general excellence.

"Brown was associated with The Washington Post from 1979-1985, working as a journalist and in business development. He serves on the board of The Radio and Television News Directors Foundation and on the Journalism Advisory Committee of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.“ [1]
