Michael Rich, Chairman of the IISS-US Board of Directors.

"As Executive Vice President of RAND Corporation, Michael Rich has been that institution's second-ranking officer since 1993. He also serves as chair of the Pardee RAND Graduate School Admissions Committee. Rich was formerly vice president and director of the RAND National Security Research Division and director of the RAND National Defense Research Institute, the federally funded research and development center that provides research and policy analysis to the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Joint Staff, the Unified Combatant Commands, the defense agencies, the United States Marine Corps, and the United States Navy. He was also responsible for national security studies sponsored at RAND by the intelligence community, Department of Energy, and private foundations. He has published numerous classified and unclassified RAND reports, including studies of the B-2 acquisition strategy, trends in weapons acquisition, multinational coproduction of aerospace systems, various readiness issues, and other topics related to national defense. He previously served at RAND as Deputy Vice President, Director of the Defense Resource Management Program. He holds a JD from the University of California, Los Angeles." [1]

"Rich is on the Council of the International Institute for Strategic Studies, London and vice chair of US Friends of the IISS. He is a member of the State Bar of California; the Council for Aid to Education Board of Trustees; the Council on Foreign Relations; the Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center Board of Advisors; the WISE & Healthy Aging Board of Directors; the Blue Ribbon Committee of the WISE/Los Angeles Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program; the UCLA Foundation Board of Councillors; and the Everychild Foundation Advisory Board. He chaired the Financial Oversight Committee of the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District from 2000 to 2003." [2]
